Working at/on/with the state election

Last Saturday was our state election. I worked on the day at one of the polling places...

The experience could be encapsulated by this picture--


Highlights of the day included:
- Finding amusing last names on the electoral role such as 'Squelch' and 'Butt'
- Listening to my fellow employee comment on various voters ideal romantic partners based on their date of birth and star sign.
- Organsing voting forms into Random Above the Line, Single Above the Line, Random Below the Line, Single Below the line and other such fun categories 8|
- Eating a hunk of greasy Henny Penny chicken at the end of the day.

Ahh it wasn't all that bad. Just a bit boring because out polling place was so quiet.
Thanks government for giving me $300ish to sit on my butt all day!

Broken hill holidays

Well it's been too long since I wrote a decent blog post.. At the moment I'm sitting in the backyard and it is super windy. I was in the hammock but I was scared the breeze would blow me right out.. The sun is nice and hot and the wind is cold so my body doesn't really know what's what. Anyway Ill tell ya about some of the things I've been doin eh?

It's summer holidays! I am still out in broken hill.. The musical is finished, I've been playing squash, doing some screen printing with my step mum and sister, playing board games, going caroling, swimming, drinking lots of cups of tea and reading good books.


Gib and I made a version of his board game the other day. It's called the animal game.. We made all the pieces and the board and the box for it to go in, it took forever but was so much fun! Since then he's been thinking about other board games a lot and we've messed around making new characters and he even started testing out making moulds for the pieces. I love making stuff.

Oh I went swimming at the local pool yesterday.. I was happily floating along looking at the bottom and saw this funny little shape. I swam over to it and was like "hey what's this?" I picked it up and it was SQUISHY and I figured out it was a POO sitting on the bottom of the pool and inwardly screamed and swam away. I told the pool people and they came with a giant net and fished it out. I CAN'T BELIEVE I TOUCHED A POO.

So.. That was fun.

Hm ok my neck is getting sore from typing on my iPod. I might go now.

I am not much of a poster lately - sorry! My brain just feels soggy or something...

But I am alive and in Broken Hill..

Here's a short list of some things I've done/seen so far in my holidays-

1. Got filmed on the streets of Broken Hill by the Amazing Race people (realised afterwards I was wearing my sunglasses with only one arm.. D'oh!)

2. Went down a mine, got to wear a cool miners hat.

3. Watched 'The THING from outer space'

4. Played squash and RAN on a TREADMILL

5. Did some screen printing with my sister Rach

6. Moved out of my house

7. Lay on the ground on the road looking at stars with someone lovely

8. Got a 6 pack for $5 (thank you Woolworth's for stuffing up)

9. Watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 x 2

10. Got stuck in a traffic jam in DUBBO for ages

11. Played a board game called 'Ticket to Ride'

12. Read a play called 'The Surprise' by G. K Chesterton (It's pretty good!)

13. Played a game of softball (and struck out twice)

14. Played 'Animal Crossing' on the Wii

15. Went for Coffee with Rachie

16. Hoe'd the backyard (a bit)

17. Got investigated by a Camel (It tried to eat me)

18. Watched a sunset on the roof of a house

19. Looked at a rainbow with a good friend

20. Ate a kebab while out to Lunch with Mel

Yay times!

Post-exam

About three hours..

There are about three hour left of Uni for the year :) In little under an hour I will start my last (and only) exam and then I am done! I could be using these last valuable minutes to study but I would rather write a blog post..

The other day I made a RAD stamp. I was just about to take a picture of it to post up here.. But I just broke it. Now it says 'Ral" How annoying. I will make another one! Here it is:

I actually wrote a song to help me remember stuff for this exam. I might upload it later so you can all enjoy it and get more educated.
